Texas A&M’s newly renamed Autonomy Research Institute continues its research on unmanned aircraft and is expanding its scope to include other autonomous systems across land, air, and sea. According to the FAA Modernization Reform Act of 2012, Congress directed FAA to set up six UAS test sites. This was first created in 2014 and has been reauthorized twice since. It is a research, development, and test site in support of agencies like NASA, FAA, and commercial organizations who want to increase drone knowledge.
